Children's Ministry
Sunday School weekly after 11:30am service

Our children’s ministry exists to share the love of God in Christ Jesus in age-appropriate lessons and settings. We grow together with children and families through weekly Sunday School classes, children’s sermons in person and online (SMP Brooklyn on YouTube), Youth Group Fridays, and events with both our elementary school (Great Commission Christian School) and our sister church St. Paul's. Our youth groups have traveled to five LCMS national youth gatherings. Some of our youths have gone on to full-time church work.  Ultimately, our congregation’s prayer for our students is for them to be Christians who understand God’s love for them: beloved, forgiven, free children of God through Christ Jesus. We pray that with great joy from the Holy Spirit, they will share His love with their family and the world.

French Ministry

The St. Matthew French-speaking Lutheran Church is a congregation led by Pastor Jean Gardy Cenat. Founded in 2013, our mission is to proclaim the Good News of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

We are a joyful and young community of about 22 members and we gather together on a regular basis to worship our Lord and savior Jesus Christ and to receive his gifts through his Word and Sacrament

We envision with God's help to contribute to the spiritual growth of our congregation.

LWML - Women At The Well

Aan official auxiliary of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS), the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) is the leading group for LCMS women where each woman is welcomed and encouraged to use their unique God-given talents in sharing God’s love as she supports missions and serves the Lord with gladness. For over 77 years, the LWML has focused on affirming each woman’s relationship with Christ, encouraging and equipping women to live out their Christian lives in active mission ministries and to support global missions.

Men's Bible Study

Eight years ago, some of the fathers from our congregation and school formed a group called Courageous Dads.  The purpose of this little community was to allow space for honest discussion and accountability.  We sought an informal setting in which men could speak openly about raising kids and leading marriages in New York City amidst the very real challenges we face: demanding work schedules, the accessibility of the internet even to young children, and the considerable stresses of everyday family life.

The Holy Spirit has worked wonderfully in our hearts and minds: through the Word, and through consolation, confrontation, and repentance.  Praise God, we have grown.

If you are a father, or hope to be one someday, you are welcome to come and sit with us one Sunday evening.  You need not be a member of St. Matthew’s to be a part of this group.  Come listen.  Come speak.  Come learn.  You (and your family) will be glad that you did.
